When you truly enjoy every moment, time flies faster than ever. I had my last breakfast in Cafe Gerbeaud when I was in Budapest. I always do my research before traveling and I saw the picture of Cafe Gerbeaud from Internet, so I decided to put it in my bucketlist. Cafe Gerbeaud have the same long history as New York Cafe. Although it is not as grand as New York Cafe, this traditional coffee house also attracts many tourists from now and then.
As it was my last meal in Budapest, I want to enjoy it while it last. The time when I was traveling to Budapest, I think it was low or shoulder season (not high season), meaning not a lot of annoying tourists (even though I’m also a tourist :p). It was lunch time and thank goodness that it wasn’t crowded (thank goodness for me, not for the restaurant, it will be bad for a restaurant if they have few customers). The interior design of Cafe Gerbeaud is warmer than New York Cafe. The dark woods, marble floor partly covered with exotic carpet, luxurious drapes, and highly detailed ceiling with grandeur chandelier, Cafe Gerbeaud definitely leave you a special moment.
All the food from Cafe Gerbeaud menu looks ravishing and made me confuse in choosing (first world problem). To end my confusion, my friend and I ordered the Breakfast for Two. Breakfast for Two includes ham & cheese scrambled eggs, ham, salami, bacon, cheese, season vegetable, homemade jam, butter, fresh cheese spread, bircher muesli, pastries, fruit, coffee or tea, and orange juice. All the food from Breakfast for Two is in either bite size or small portion for two. It may seems not much but it’s actually enough especially with the coffee and fresh orange juice too.
Cafe Gerbeaud is also popular for its confectioner, which I sadly didn’t get a chance to try. It also seems very lovely to have a breakfast or brunch outdoor. But as I mentioned, the indoor of Cafe Gerbeaud is very beautiful as well. I like the fact that the location is very close to everywhere. It’s close to shopping street (Zara, H&M, Pull & Bear, etc), hotels and near to the Danube River. A girl gotta do what she gotta do.
If you haven’t see the most beautiful cafe in the world, you should see this because it’s in Budapest too and not so far from Cafe Gerbeaud (depending on your transportation).
