Continuing my trip last October 2017 in Seoul, I will now share you about Han Gang Park. One of the best things about Seoul is the landscape of the city. I think I’ve mentioned it several times already. Seoul is located in between mountains and divided by a river called Han River. I only had several days left before I have to fly to Japan. So I decided to do a bit of photo-hunting in the morning, right after the sunrise. I did some photography experiments with the soft sky and golden hour colors.
Morning in Han Gang River Park
Han River or Han Gang in the morning is really calm and serene. I know I may sound crazy because Seoul is one of the biggest capital in Asia. But when I was in Han River and walking along the riverbanks, I felt so relax and chill. While on the other side I can see bustling cars making their way off to work. What I’m saying is that in Seoul, you can get both of the busyness and the tranquil atmosphere. If you want some crowd, go to heavily populated places like Gangnam or Myeongdong. To get some serenity, go to the mountains that are just few metro stops away. I went to Inwangsan, you can read here, and it’s seriously got the best view of Namsan Tower. I didn’t even do any preparation in advance for the climb to Inwangsan.
Anyway, let’s go back to our main topic, which is Han Gang. Along Han Gang, there’s the park where you can do run or bike. There are some bike rentals but it is not 24/7. I went to Han Gang around 6 am just around sunrise and cannot rent any bike. What I’m very, very grateful of is the soft lighting. The golden hour after sunrise make all my photograph really beautiful. Like, you can’t get that kind of colour in any hour of the day. Another reason to visit Han Gang River Park is because of the free entry. Han Gang Park is open for public and you can enter it freely. For my fellow tight-budget traveler, this park is still just as beautiful (for your Instagram).
The orange, yellow, greenish trees with the blue sky and blue river as background, is something I don’t see often back in Indonesia. You don’t necessarily need travel to nearby forest to see autumn foliage. Han Gang Park got you covered and it is more reachable by public transport of even by foot. This is definitely one of my favorite places to chill and just stroll from my 11-days trip in South Korea.
