Before moving to Bali in 2023, I was living in the mountains in West Java. I love to visit Cibodas Botanical Garden (Kebun Raya Cibodas) and I consider it one of the nicest botanical gardens in Indonesia. Bali Botanical Garden is the largest botanical garden in Indonesia.

Well, not that we have a lot of it here.

Now that I live in Bali, only now in 2026 I visited the Bali Botanical Garden. I rode motorbike from Denpasar to Bedugul area. I departed early in the morning at 5 am, and it took me 4 hours.

Once I arrived, I gotta pay for the motorbike parking fee and my entry fee. Once you enter the area of the botanical garden, you can rent a vehicle to travel around the garden: bicycle, electric bike or scooter. I opted for the electric bike because I want to go fast.

Spots to go in the Bali Botanical Garden

What I did was to travel around the garden with the electric bike so I could see what interested me. The first place that caught my eye is the greenhouse full of cacti.

The lake view garden is the best because of the lake view. I was in luck because I saw a gathering of German Shepherd community, where people gather together bringing their German Shepherd dogs. They were having a picnic.

There’s a bamboo area where it’s mostly just bamboo

My favorite things to do here is the ride through the forest, full of trees. Nowadays, it’s rare to have this kind of view. I did a round trip twice with the electric bike. I stopped once in a while when I encountered a very big tree to admire how magnificent they are.

Near the entrance, next to the main road, there’s an area where apparently, it’s everyone’s favorite. The flat area is perfect for picnic, or play badminton. I saw at least two photo sessions happen while I was there. This is also the perfect day excursion or mini getaway from the pollution or heavy traffic of the city. Another reason to come here is if you’re a plant or tree lover, like me!

Total spending at Bali Botanical Garden

Here’s the total of my spending at Bali Botanical Garden:

  • Entry fee: Rp25.000
  • Motorbike parking fee: Rp10.000
  • Electric motorbike rental: Rp60.000/hour

Where to go next?

I wrote a day itinerary in this blog post: 4 Places in Bali with Swiss vibe.

I started my day visiting the Bali Botanical Garden, checking out the twin lake that looks like Interlaken in Switzerland, then making my way down south to Ubud. It’s a great itinerary when you want to visit the mountain area of Bali in a day, or missing Swiss and want to get some Swiss vibe in Bali.

Hope you enjoy this blog post. See you in my next post!
