5 Favorites Restaurants in Canggu Bali

michellefranclee January 6, 2023

Hi everyone! Happy new year 2023! I’m still living in Bali, more specifically in Canggu. It’s getting more crowded by the day here, and in Bali (not just in Canggu). More international tourists are coming in and the traffic is getting worse and worse. Okay, I probably should stop complaining haha. So far, I’ve been living in Canggu for about 6 months, since the end of May 2022. I think I will try and stay for a few more months, but definitely not for a long-time because the price of my accommodation is keep on increasing 🥲. I eventually cannot compete with foreigners who have higher salaries compared to local Indonesians. It’s truly unfair, but oh well.

Anyway, for the last six months, I’ve been on a foodie journey and trying on a lot of restaurants. It is mainly because I don’t cook while I’m here. All the restaurants I mentioned below are based in Canggu, but Canggu itself is kinda big, so I mentioned the area within Canggu in brackets.

  1. Shelter (Pererenan)
  2. Santanera (Tanah Barak)
  3. Mason (Batu Bolong)
  4. Riviera (Berawa)
  5. Zali (Pererenan)

Right now I’m writing this blog post without much preparation. Usually, I prepare with a draft, edited photos, and maybe a bit of research as well. But I’ve been delaying posting a blog post for the longest time, probably since 2017 (ever since I graduated from university in Switzerland, and moved back to Indonesia). Right now, what I want is just to get started with writing again, whether it’s shitty or not. What I’m trying to say is, I will just leave the list of my favorite restaurants in Canggu without explanations. Because I think you should trust me, and in the future, I will create another post explaining why it is on my fave list. With pictures and everything hehe. See you in my next post!
