Hakkasan San Francisco

June 4, 2015

I decided to give Hakkasan in San Francisco a try while I’m there. My friend was the one who introduced me to Hakkasan and we tried it once in Hakkasan Miami. Owing to the fact that I’m Asian, I eat Asian food almost all the time, especially Chinese cuisine. Nevertheless, Hakkasan takes it to the very next level into contemporary Chinese cuisine.

I went here with an old friend of mine from high school. In fact, she did not know that she lived just couple blocks away from Hakkasan Restaurant. Well, know she knows. It’s quite the same experience as Hakkasan in Miami. I ordered Crispy Duck Salad, Steamed Dim Sum Platter, and Hakka Organic Pork Belly Claypot.

The famous Crispy Duck Salad is a must-try appetiser for everyone. The mixture between the duck, salad, pomelo, pine nuts and pomegranate seeds are just divine and very balance. Definitely the signature dish of Hakkasan.

As the Steamed Dim Sum Platter, I never tried this kind of next-level Dim Sum before. Blowing gym mind that a Dim Sum can be this mouthwatering. In this bamboo steamer consists of scallop shumai, har gau (or hakau), prawn and Chinese chive dumpling, black pepper duck dumpling. Perfect portion for two.

Hakka Organic Pork Belly Claypot as the main course and the last dish. Pork belly has been my ultimate favourite dish of all time. I cannot even compare the softness of the pork belly accompanied with cloud ear mushroom, which also one of my favourite mushroom. But after I ate the Crispy Duck Salad and the Dim Sum, eating one clay pot of Pork Belly is quite a challenge, even for my friend and I.

As I’m still underage to drink in the United States (bummer, I know), I ordered Kowloon Cooler which is really nice and very refreshing. Mocktail that consists of strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, lychee, apple, cranberry juice and Fever-Tree sparkling lemon soda. If you are a big fan of berries, you should unquestionably try this Kowloon Cooler. You will not be disappointed by the presentation too!

Everything was so delectable and awe-inspiring combination of ingredients from every dish. It is also a great place to hang out and chat as well. Hakkasan is bringing Chinese/Cantonese cuisine to the very next stage of perspective.
