My First Batch of Ceramics

michellefranclee November 14, 2021

If you’ve been following my Instagram (@michellefranclee), you know that I’ve been dabbling on pottery. I open up an art studio here in the mountain, literally right next to my house in here. Pottery is definitely is something I want to do more in the future and I think I’m getting serious about it. Even though I don’t have a kiln or a pottery wheel, it is still very doable to make ceramics with just my hands and some tools.

Here are some of my creations with handbuilding and slabbing methods. I didn’t put some thought behind this batch hence none of the ceramics have any connection towards each other. This is only half of the batch by the way, because I utterly failed with the glazing part. You can see clearly see in some of the ceramics that the glazing is not perfectly done.

I’m actually some of them, in a very cheap price. You can buy it here at Tokopedia or DM me via Semtala Studio Instagram. Right now, I’m taking a break from making ceramics, or at least stop glazing them. Because I need to learn how to glaze properly first before start creating more. I don’t want to waste my time, energy, money and clay just because I don’t know how to properly glaze.

Nevertheless, I have a lot of ideas that I want to realize it in form of ceramics. I can’t wait to make it happen.
