Once a upon a time, it was a one fine day in midsummer, I went to a place where they have the best view in Switzerland. The place is in Puidoix–Chexbres, somewhere in Lavaux called Le Deck, a lounge bar by Le Baron Tavernier. If you want to get the best view of Lake Geneva and Swiss vineyard, Le Deck is definitely your paradise.

Train Track and Vineyard in Switzerland

Getting there

It is very accesible by train or car. I don’t have a car, so I use train all the time in Switzerland because it’s very convenient.

By train, you should buy a ticket from anywhere you are to Puidoux-Chexbres. You will probably stop in Lausanne and Vevey before you get to Puidoux-Chexbres train station because the Puidoux-Chexbres train station is smaller than the bigger city like Lausanne, Vevey, Bern and etc so you will have to transfer into a smaller train to reach the smaller train stations. But, you still have to walk about 5-10 minutes from the Puidoux-Chexbres train station to the Le Deck. It’s not that far, I walked and it is easy to navigate when you have Google Map with you.

By Car, I don’t know the routes and stuff but you can always look at Google Map and because Le Baron Tavernier is a hotel, there’s parking spot and when I was there, it seems like they have quite a lot of parking spot.

I’m not sure if reservation is available for Le Deck because last time I went there, we just went straight to queueing and the queue is quite long but it was quick before we got our table. You can always check their website and call them. I strongly not suggest for you to not go during bad weather or if you think that the weather will worsen because first, it is an outdoor lounge bar and second, the view and scenery plays a big part of this lounge bar and that’s probably 90% of the reason why people go to Le Deck.

Pretty much anything can be delicious if you have those kind of view, am I right? As Le Deck is a lounge bar, they offer mostly beverages. To be honest, I forgot what I order but it was something like Le Deck Special Cocktail or something. I can only genuinely say that it was delicious. My friend who came with me to this breathtaking lounge bar ordered something like berries cocktail or something like that. Since I came here with my friend (my travel buddy :*), we share a snack platter that consists of different type of cheeses, cold meats, and sliced bread. Both of us combine, we spent around CHF 60, including the food and our drinks. The drinks are around CHF 15-20 and the food is about CHF 24-ish.

My friend and I stayed there for about two hours or more than that. We had the best table with the best view and served by the best waiters. I seriously couldn’t ask for anything else that time. This place is perfect to deep talk with your dear friends and just to think of it as a getaway from the real world. The finest hour to visit is before the sunset so you can watch the sky turn into purple, orange-ish from blue. Oh I wish I can go back there! If you ever visit Switzerland or French part of Switzerland, you have to visit this place! I promise you won’t regret it.

P.s.: One last tip is to enjoy every moment when you’re up there. Unless you see Beyonce in there, then enjoy every moment while you see her in real life.
