This cafe is hidden somewhere in the car-free shopping street, Strøget street. Royal Smushi Cafe is well-decorated from ceiling to floor. Based from their website they call themselves as a fairytale, funky baroque cafe specializing in Danish traditional cuisine. The cafe reminds me of Alice in Wonderland but with brighter atmosphere. Decided that Royal Smushi Cafe will be my last place to eat. I was about three and a half hours away from departing back to Switzerland (my so-called home based).

How to Get to Royal Smushi Cafe?

It’s pretty easy but you have to walk. As I mentioned before, it is in the car-free, pedestrian-only street. The street is called Strøget and one of the longest pedestrian shopping streets in Europe. The exact address is Amagertorv 6, 1160 København, Denmark. If you hesitate on how to find their location, Google Map always a huge help. I usually download the local map in Google Map so I can turn off my cellular data and wifi. They are open everyday from 9 am. You can see more about Royal Smushi Cafe from their website. In their website, if you click “Welcome“, they have a cute story about smørrebrød and their cafe.

What to Order?

I got to Royal Smushi Cafe at around 9 or 10 am. The sad thing is they serve smushi, their smørrebrød with a twist, from 11 am. As I needed to catch a plane in 3 hours, I decided to order the Brunch Menu. I was very sad because I really want to try the smushi, but I guess now I have more reason to come back to Copenhagen.

The brunch menu includes: Mini wholemeal and oat pancake, fruit, brie and sliced riberhus cheese, skyr with red currant compote, muesli scrambled egg, bacon small bun, rye butter bread and marmalade (DKK 145). It may seems like a little bits and bots but it’s enough for me and you don’t feel super full or bloated after eating those. I’ve been craving for Chai Latte (DKK 60) and Copenhagen had the perfect weather to drink it.

You can see all of their menu here.
