4 Places in Bali with Swiss vibe
There’s this term or saying in Indonesian, if you say “Bali rasa Swiss” the literal translation is Bali taste/feels like Swiss. It doesn’t make sense. It’s like saying “oh, this…

South of Bali is home to some of the most breathtaking beaches on the island. I will show you 9 hidden gem beaches ranging from white sand coves to dramatic cliffs. Whether you’re looking for secluded escapes, world-class surf, or soft sandy shores for sunbathing, this guide covers the best beaches in South Bali. Bali is renowned for its stunning landscapes and pristine beaches. While many tourists flock to the popular spots, several hidden gems offer tranquility and breathtaking beauty.

Renowned for its luxury resorts and pristine coastline, Geger Beach offers a more upscale beach experience. This beach is right next to The Mulia Hotel, one of the most famous luxury resorts popular among Indonesian. It has calm waters and white, soft sands. This beach is ideal for families and those looking to enjoy a day of leisure in a beautiful setting.

Just a short drive from Green Bowl Beach, Gunung Payung Beach is another hidden treasure. Known for its dramatic cliffs and stunning sunsets, this beach is a favorite among locals. The soft white sands and turquoise waters create an idyllic setting for sunbathing and swimming. There’s a cave on the left side, but it’s only accessible when the tide is low. You can do snorkeling or kayaking if the wave is not too rough.

Nestled in a secluded cove, Green Bowl Beach is a hidden paradise perfect for those looking to escape the crowds. With its crystal-clear waters and vibrant marine life, this beach is ideal for snorkeling and relaxation. The journey to this hidden gem involves descending a steep staircase, but the reward is well worth it!

Nunggalan Beach is a hidden treasure located near Padang Padang Beach. The way down to the beach can be exhausting. Make sure you have enough energy or food before going down and up from this beach. This beach is perfect for swimming (please check the tide and waves first) and sunbathing. The beach is surrounded by lush greenery, making it a picturesque spot for a day of relaxation.

For those seeking solitude, Nyang Nyang Beach offers a stretch of pristine sand and untouched natural beauty. This beach has easier access, especially when you ride a motorbike. You can go down with your bike, though the road is very steep. If you’re not an experienced motorbike rider, please ask someone to help you. This beach is surrounded by cliffs and greenery.

Also known as Blue Point Beach, Suluban Beach is a hidden gem tucked away beneath towering cliffs. The way down can also be challenging, so make sure you have enough energy! Accessible via a narrow passage, this beach is a favorite among surfers and photographers alike. The stunning scenery and vibrant sunsets make it a perfect spot for a romantic evening.
Thomas Beach is a tranquil escape away from the hustle and bustle of Bali’s tourist hotspots. This beach features soft sands and clear waters, making it perfect for swimming and sunbathing. It’s the ideal spot to unwind and soak up the sun.

This is one of my favorite beaches in the south. Famous for its unique rock formations and beautiful surf breaks, Padang Padang Beach is a must-visit. This is probably one of the most crowded compared to the other eight beaches. But it also has the easiest access because it’s popular. The stairs are better than the other beaches. This beach gained international fame from the movie “Eat, Pray, Love”. Enjoy sunbathing on the sandy shores or take a dip in the inviting waters. I personally love being in the water, feeling the waves.

The Bingin Beach is a surfer’s paradise, boasting consistent waves and a laid-back atmosphere. This hidden gem is perfect for both experienced surfers and beginners looking to catch their first wave. After a day of surfing, relax at one of the beachside warungs, where you can enjoy delicious local cuisine. There are a lot of accommodations here, and I stayed at Mahi-Mahi Bingin Beach. However, there was a deconstruction by the government because there’s a lot of “illegal” business here. Not sure whether it’s still going on. If you are able to stay here for just a night, I highly recommend it. Because the access to the beach right after you wake up is one of the best things. And because this is on the west side, you can see a beautiful sunset after a long day.
If you’re ambitious enough, you can visit all 9 beaches in one day. You should start visiting the beaches on the east and work your way to the west. From the east, you should start from sunrise, usually around 5-6 am. You should finish your trip in the west (I highly recommend Suluban Beach or Bingin Beach) to see the sunset.
Bali is home to many stunning beaches, and these hidden gems are just a few treasures waiting to be discovered. Whether you’re seeking adventure, relaxation, or simply a place to enjoy the beauty of nature, these hidden gem beaches offer something special for every traveler. So pack your bags, grab your sunscreen, and get ready to explore the breathtaking shores of Bali!
